One of the Army’s m/09 Parseval-Sigsfeld balloons (this one manufactured
by Metzeler & Co) was stationed at the fortress of Boden in the north of
Sweden. This fortress was completed in 1909 and was of great strategic
importance for Sweden for a lot of years. The balloon-house is still
preserved in excellent condition. This photo was taken in 1999 in the typical light that makes the summer nights near the Arctic circle so beautiful. |
