Gårdstångastenen 3. Rune Stone from Gårdstånga in the Municipality of Eslöv. Now at the Rune Stone Hill at Lundagård, Lund.

This stone was discovered together with another stone called Gårdstångastenen 2 in 1867. They were used as building material in the churchyard wall at Gårdstånga, a parish that today belongs to the municipality of Eslöv in Skåne. The stones were taken to Lund and raised at the rune stone monument at Lundagård adjacent to the Cathedral and the old university building.

Gårdstångastenen has a simple inscription. One interesting detail is the hammer sign at the end of the runic inscription. Probably it is the hammer Mjölner used by Tor, the god of thunder.

It was then raised at the Rune Stone Hill at Lundagård near the university building in Lund. The stone is dated to sometimes between the end of the 10th century and 1050.

The rune stone monument can easily be found in the park at the Cathedral of Lund

The runes read:

ASUR SATI STINA þISI IFITIR TUBA.

This means:  "Assur satte dessa stenar efter Tobbe. (In English: Assur placed these stones after [in memory of] Tobbe)".
