As an
amateur web designer, I always looked for good illustrations of good
quality. As a pure amateur designer, I cannot afford to pay high prices
for quality drawings, prints etc. Therefore I have begun to look in
second-hand bookshops and libraries for books that are printed in the 19th
century. I most cases I can be sure that the illustrations (woodcuts etc.
– photographs are mostly of bad quality) nowadays are free from any
copyright.
It exists
a lot of free clipart on the web, but the quality are mostly not so good.
I have begun to scan this kind of graphics systematically. It is my
intention to give other people - amateur or professional designers - the
opportunity to share what I found. I live in Sweden, so it will be mostly
Swedish illustrations, but I also hope to also collect material from the
other Scandinavian countries. A pictorial archive of my own.
The graphics is presented in small size on this page. If you click at the
blue button below an illustration, it will be opened in a new window and
in large size. The resolution will be 300 dpi. Just for you to download.
One important thing - do not include these images in any other clip art collection.
