Rune Stone at Hoga, Stala, Island of Orust, Bohuslän, Sweden

This rune stone is raised at the grounds of the old farm Hoga in the parish of Stala. The parish is situated on the large island Orust in Bohuslän at the Swedish west coast.

A description from the 19th century tells that the stone several times been fallen down and raised again. Therefore it may be moved a bit from its original place.

The stone is dated to the 9th century and cut in gneiss.

The runes read:

50

The interpretion is much discussed. One suggestion is:

"Hög/Ior utförde denna sten här på mulen (d.v.s. höjden).
(In English: Hög/Ior made this stone here on the hill)"
.
