Rune Stone at Svenljunga Old Churchyard, Västergötland, Sweden

The following text is attached to the drawing above in a book from 1893: "When works were done at the nowadays not used churchyard between the village and the vicarage, was this stone found in 1887, where it laid covered with gravel. The dean V. H. Ström let raise the stone at the place where it was found. The rune winding passes to a cross, a rather unusual thing. The rune winding is much damaged, only this can be read nowadays".

The stone can still be seen today (2009) at Svenljunga in the landskap (Province) of Västergötland.

This runes can be read:

This means:

". . . . denna sten efter . . . . . .  broder Sifa.
(In English: . . . . this stone after . . . . . .  brother Sifa.)"
.
