The Province of Bohuslän in Sweden is famous for its many
rock carvings from the bronze age (1800 BC - 500 BC). One interesting
carving is situated at Ånneröd in the municipality
of Strömstad. It shows a man with something like wings on his back,
travelling in a carriage with two wheels drawn by
two animals. Further two "bird men" can be seen on this
rock carving.
This is probably the
oldest evidence found in Sweden of the dream to fly. |
